Cbonds has published the League Tables of global and regional issuers for the first half of 2017

Cbonds prepared the League Tables of global and regional issuers for the first half of 2017 according to the results of placements on domestic and foreign debt markets in various sectors of the economy.

 

In the first half of the year, sovereign borrowers raised $ 139 billion on the international market, increasing the volume by $ 72 billion. Argentina ranks the first place. The borrower placed 10 issues worth $ 36 billion. 100-year Eurobonds are the latest issue of Argentina currently. Saudi Arabia is on the second place. In April, the Kingdom placed two tranches for 9 billion dollars. It was the largest sukuk bonds issue ever. Third place went to Kuwait, which has placed 2 issues in March for a total of $ 8 billion. As in the first quarter, there is only one country in the top 30 borrowers from the DM segment - Sweden.

 

In the first two quarters, non-financial companies from developing and developed countries raised $ 1 036 billion on the domestic and international markets. Verizon Communications, AT&T Inc., Apple, Microsoft and Volkswagen occupied the first five places. For the first half-year, Verizon Communications has placed 15 issues for $ 24 billion. AT&T moved from fourth place to second: the debt doubled to $ 24 billion. Apple moved from the fifth place to the third, increasing the loan to $ 22 billion. Microsoft did not place bonds in the second quarter, but remained in the top five of the largest borrowers in the first half of the year. Volkswagen raised $ 14 billion on the debt market.

 

Financial sector companies raised $ 1 227 billion on the domestic and foreign debt markets. The European Investment Bank is held the first place. It placed 80 issues worth $ 48 billion. Deutsche Bank, the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF), Landesbank Hessen-Thueringen and Goldman Sachs have borrowed $ 37 billion, $ 31 billion, $ 25 billion and $ 24 billion, respectively.

 

Non-financial corporations from emerging markets raised $ 151 billion. Companies from Asia and Latin America are in the top 5: China Evergrande Group, Petrobras, State Grid Corporation of China, Pemex and Kaisa Group Holding. In total, they placed $ 30 billion, or 19% of this market.

 

Banks and financial institutions of the EM sector have borrowed 138 billion dollars. Among the leaders: Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank and KEXIM with volumes of $ 17.1 billion, $ 4.6 billion and $ 4.3 billion, respectively.

 

The total volume of state and corporate sector placements in the CIS region amounted to $ 26 billion in the first half of the year. TOP-5 largest corporate placements: KazMunayGas ($ 2.75 billion), Gazprom ($ 1.805 billion), MMC Norilsk Nickel ($ 1.5 billion), VimpelCom Holdings B.V. ($ 1.5 billion) and the Moscow Credit Bank ($ 1.3 billion).



League Tables of issuers accounted plain vanilla bonds issued by governments, companies and banks. Bonds with a maturity period of less than 365 days, CDO, securitization and structural products are excluded from the calculations. The League Tables currency is the US dollar. All issues placed in other currencies have been converted into US dollars at the time of placement.
