|LONDON (Standard & Poor's) July 3, 2008--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services |
said today that it withdrew its 'B' long-term and 'B' short-term foreign and
local currency sovereign credit ratings on the Republic of Mali. The
withdrawal comes at the client's request.
At the same time, the 'BBB-' transfer and convertibility (T&C) assessment
was also withdrawn.
The ratings are constrained by Mali's low level of economic development,
lack of fiscal flexibility, and the economy's high vulnerability to external
shocks. The ratings also reflect the country's eligibility for strong donor
support and membership in the West African Economic and Monetary Union
