The short segment of the market consists of Bons du Tresor (BTA), securities maturing in one year or less. Bons du Tresor (BTA) are sold at a discount or at par (face value). Also Chad issues long-term bonds - Obligations du Tresor (OTA).
To finance the public debt the Chad government sells bonds to institutional and individual investors through public auctions. Treasury auctions occur regularly and have a set schedule. There are three steps to an auction: announcement of the auction, bidding, and issuance of the purchased securities.
